GAMEPLAY / VISUAL
With a gameplay dynamic that differs from conventional survival games, Mists of Noyah gradually unveils its Tower Defense essence, surprising the player throughout the experience. The game stands out with its stunning pixel art graphics, one of its strongest aspects. However, by incorporating multiple gameplay styles, it may have unintentionally alienated some players. Even so, Mists of Noyah is a solid game with evident qualities. I dare say it becomes truly engaging after a few hours, but its slow progression might be an obstacle for some players.
The game features multiple elements that directly influence the gameplay, from inventory management to item crafting and skill development. Additionally, Mists of Noyah introduces summons and companion creatures, adding an extra layer of strategy and customization to the experience.
I’d say this is one of the most robust pixel art games I’ve ever played. Besides its depth, it shines through its beautifully crafted character designs, each meticulously detailed, with unique and special traits. Mists of Noyah is undeniably a journey, revealing itself to be far more complex than it seems at first glance.
Despite its robust and complex nature, some of its simpler mechanics show flaws. For instance, the combat system lacks refinement, making the action feel less engaging compared to the rest of the experience.

ACHIEVEMENTS
To be completely honest, I didn’t enjoy Mists of Noyah’s achievements very much. Many require reaching level 60 with every character, while others feel unnecessarily tedious. In general, this isn’t uncommon, as many companies opt for grind-heavy achievements when they lack more creative ways to keep players engaged until the end. Innovative achievements, like those in The Stanley Parable, are a rare find.

RESUME
You could make a long list of games that inspired Mists of Noyah, and I believe Stardew Valley is one of them. Interestingly, while the game embraces multiple gameplay styles, it isn’t always intuitive, particularly in its simpler combat animations. It’s a shame because the experience is intriguing, and the developers clearly have strong technical expertise. However, they may have overextended their vision, when instead, they should have refined key aspects—especially at the beginning of the game.
NOTA: 6.8/10
