GAMEPLAY / VISUAL
Moons of Darsalon features a retro design reminiscent of Earthworm Jim's environments, though it applies a visual filter that, while not groundbreaking, fits the game's overall aesthetic. Developed by the same studio behind Pilots of Darsalon, this spin-off maintains visual consistency and delivers a genuinely interesting experience.
The gameplay places the player as part of a hive mind, controlling multiple characters to solve puzzles and complete missions in a platforming style. Despite claiming inspiration from Metal Slug, I personally don’t see much resemblance to the classic run-and-gun title. Compared to the studio's previous game, it's evident how much they've evolved, introducing more refined and engaging dynamics, even with the complete shift in genre.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Unfortunately, the game falters in this area, as do many others. Apologies for being blunt, but if anyone from Dr. Kucho! Games is open to feedback, we’d be glad to help brainstorm more creative achievements for their next game. It feels like the achievements were designed lazily, leaning on clichés that, in our view, significantly hinder indie games.
Examples include achievements tied to extreme difficulty levels or obtaining all stars in every stage. This design approach, as we've often pointed out, alienates a considerable audience—particularly players looking for more accessible or casual experiences. Moreover, these achievements lack originality and fail to creatively engage players, missing an opportunity to enhance the game's overall experience.

RESUME
Moons of Darsalon showcases consistent graphics and genuinely creative puzzles, though the beginning might feel a bit slow. However, the game soon unfolds into a cohesive and visually stunning experience. Its unique soundtrack adds to the nostalgic atmosphere, while the graphic style pays clear homage to old-school games, almost as if it was lifted straight from a CD-ROM included with retro gaming magazines. This retro aesthetic not only works well but also adds a special charm, making the game memorable for both its beauty and its clever gameplay.
