Review: Primal Survivors

Primal Survivors is an isometric view game in the style of Vampire Survivor, where players are transported to a primitive era and can perform various upgrades in their skill tree.

GAMEPLAY

The game offers different modes with slight variations between them. Players can choose from various primitive beasts, such as the spirit of the wolf, the tiger, and others, taking on the role of an inner shaman.

As the game progresses, we advance until we face bosses. The battles against these bosses are quite interesting, each with specific movements. From my experience, all the bosses had two phases, with variations in movements in the second phase. The game is quite fun in terms of challenge, but I believe the progression could be better developed.

VISUAL AND NARRATIVE

This new survival genre is undoubtedly one of the most diverse, with some truly notable variations. Primal Survivors is a game that offers acceptable quality, but it falls short of being spectacular. It is competent in its theme.

However, in terms of visuals, the game is lacking. The environments, enemy variations, graphical effects, and even the design of the main character seem somewhat generic. A positive highlight is the artwork related to the skills acquired along the way, which is truly excellent.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Primal Survivors is likely the type of game that will receive several updates over time. During my analysis, for instance, more achievements were added, challenging me to earn an additional 1000G in Xbox achievements. While not bad, I wish the achievements were more thoughtfully crafted than simply 'kill 20 snakes and earn 200G'. This seems somewhat lazy, especially considering the game is fun and could provide hours of entertainment. However, I believe the developers aimed to attract an achievement-focused audience, which I find regrettable.

RESUME

Primal Survivors is a satisfying game. It's enjoyable and fulfills its role well as a survival-style game, but I believe it could have been better developed in terms of visual aspects and the organization of difficulty in relation to player progression. It's not very engaging when a developer makes the game so easy that achieving all the accomplishments becomes simple. I think they should have considered something more challenging and well-crafted.
