Review: Arc Seed

I love giant robots! Who doesn't love giant robots?

THE GAME

Arc Seed is a roguelite and deckbuilder game developed and published by Massive Galaxy Studios. Aliens known as Angels are threatening the planet with an invasion. Earth's only line of defense is the mechas and their pilots, who will stop the invasion with a lot of firepower, always saving as many people as they can in the process. Choose the best mecha for your playstyle, build your arsenal of weapons and improve your robot in this endeavor to defend against the space threat.

MY IMPRESSIONS

I think it's worth remembering that the game is in early access, so a lot of things can be changed, improved or added later. My analysis was made with these factors in mind. The mecha theme always catches my attention, after all, giant robots are really cool. Arc Seed mixes roguelite, deck building and turn-based action, uniting all of this with very beautiful and well-made art. The idea of this combination of styles works well, even though deck building is a saturated genre lately. The whole idea of the game is simple, but it has so many elements that you don't know if you're taking advantage of everything. In combat, the city has many elements and many times I didn't understand what was happening. Even though there is an initial explanation, it is not very clear. The game is not in Brazilian Portuguese, but this is not something that gets in the way, since there are few existing texts and with little knowledge you can understand what is being said.

The scenario is very vast for the little that you use of it, perhaps a reduction would make it a little more dynamic. I like the animations that appear when certain actions are taken, it's something unique that the game presents to you. Outside of combat, you can increase your mecha's stats, organize your deck by adding or removing cards, and you can also buy new cards. This part is very simple, but too simple, as if something was missing. The game's art is very beautiful, but in terms of gameplay, the current state of the game is very raw, which doesn't mean that's bad. Arc Seed has a cool proposition and tries to escape the cliché, adding some elements that differentiate it from other roguelites.

ACHIEVEMENTS

As of this writing, the game has no achievements. However, since it is in early access, I imagine that some achievements may be added in the future, which is what usually happens. I hope they add them, because it creates an additional incentive for players.

CONCLUSION

Considering that the game is in early access, it is on a very good path, with a solid foundation. The art part is sensational, so they can focus on gameplay improvements without any problems. Within the game itself, we can see some features that are not yet available, but this shows that we can expect more features in the future. I don't know if this will make things easier or more complex, but it is undeniable that Arc Seed has a lot of room to evolve and improve. Ever since I first saw the game, I was very interested, so I will continue following to see where the developers will go with this beautiful game.
