For all those who didn't have the chance to experience the arcade era, embark on this world in Arcade Paradise.
THE GAME
Arcade Paradise is a management and arcade game developed by Nosebleed Interactive and distributed by Wired Productions. Ashley is assigned by her father, Gerald, to take care of the laundromat called King Wash. While taking care of the establishment, Ashley finds some old arcade machines in the back of the laundromat and sees a great opportunity to make money. And so begins the journey of our protagonist, who slowly transforms the laundry room into a large space full of games, without her father knowing what she is doing.
Of course, while you're working hard on the washing machines, you'll always find some time to play the arcade machines, beat records and complete challenges, all to get more money and, consequently, more machines.
MY IMPRESSIONS
The game hooked me from the beginning due to the premise of having arcade machines to play. Ever since I was little, I've always loved playing on these machines, so I felt really nostalgic for those times. I must warn you that the beginning of the game may be a shock for those who expected to jump into the arcade idea. It will take a while before you can focus 100% on the machines and abandon the laundry. At first, taking care of the laundry isn't all bad, but over time, it becomes more and more annoying to have to abandon the games to take care of the clothes. There is an alternative to this, which is to use a code in the game menu that makes your life easier. If you think this is cheating, good luck with the dirty laundry.
The game's story is a great backdrop, with a really cool theme: do what you like. All that family pressure, comparisons and the like are worthless, they just make us feel bad. Ashley does everything she can to follow her dreams and do what makes her happy, even if her father doesn't recognize it. In fact, a curiosity: the voice actor for Ashley's father, Gerald, is the same voice actor for Geralt, from the game The Witcher. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil, which is great for understanding the game's story and instructions.
Arcade machine games are as varied as possible. Many are reimagined classics, others are completely original games. Inevitably, you will like some more than others, whether due to the style of play or the difficulty. The visual style of the game is very beautiful and retro, which gives it a 90s atmosphere.
It's a very fun game without many complications. Managing the laundry room and arcade is not difficult or complex. When you can let go of the laundry, the time will pass very quickly while you have fun on the arcade machines. After finishing the main story, the challenge is to complete all the game's objectives, which will take a lot of time, but will give you that feeling of beating the arcade machine's record, just like in the old days.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Achievements will require you to be good at many game styles. Apart from achievements related to the history and management of the establishment, the vast majority are related to games, such as getting all the improvements in a game or simply finishing them. Some will demand more of you than others, but overall, you'll just have to play until you succeed. Over time, you get the hang of it. Therefore, achieving 100% of the achievements in Arcade Paradise will require a lot of time.
CONCLUSION
Arcade Paradise is a great choice for anyone who wants a game with progression at a good pace and lots of varied fun. As there are several arcade machines, some of them will capture your attention, to the point that you want to beat your record. Even with a slower start, the game keeps you steady in your quest to increase your space for arcade machines.
It's a game that's really worth it, even after beating it, as you can enter just to play the machine games. Also, there are DLCs that add new games, so you can have more challenges. I liked the story that is told and the way you progress, I highly recommend playing and enjoying it, as arcades deserve this honor.
