Review: Wild Seas

How nice it is to see a genre you love have a competent game. Tower defense is, without a doubt, one of the game genres I've played the most in my life, especially the classic mods of Warcraft III on Garena. Wild Seas is a great choice for those who want to revisit the genre.

GAMEPLAY / VISUAL

In the game with extremely cute graphics, we control a friendly crocodile who needs to defend a strategically poorly positioned jewel from evil pirates. To do this, we build different types of turrets with various functionalities, such as launching missiles, mortars, and even healing our character. Functioning like a standard tower defense game, the pirates come in waves. We can throw a few punches to get rid of them, but the main focus is on maintaining and upgrading our turrets. As the pirates die, they drop treasure chests containing coins or a wrench to repair any damaged turret.

ACHIEVEMENTS

I completed all the achievements in the game, and right after that, the company released new achievements to be reached. I would say that Wild Seas suffers from the unfortunate issue of being so easy that the game ends up not proving itself enough. We can simply complete all the achievements in the first or second stage of the game. Like some companies have been doing, they release more and more achievements to attract players who are focused on that. However, in the case of Wild Seas, I don't think this was necessary. The game is fun and really enjoyable, but it could have gone further if it had achievements that showed a more intrinsic and challenging progression.

RESUME

Wild Seas is a good tower defense game, but it could be more. It seems that the developers didn't believe in the potential of the genre or the game. It's a shame because I believe it could have been much more robust. However, it is important to value small and well-made games. The visual aspect of Wild Seas is really well done, and you can spend several enjoyable hours playing it.
