- Review: Lil' Guardsman
Being a guard at the gates of a kingdom may seem simple, but it can dictate the entire fate of a story. THE GAME Lil' Guardsman is a point and click puzzle game developed by Hilltop Studios and distributed by Versus Evil and tinyBuild. When her father asks her to cover his shift at the kingdom's gates, Lil, a little girl of just 12 years old, learns the job of guard, questioning all the beings who wish to enter her kingdom, using all the resources that are within her reach. It seems simple, but her choices can change the course of the story. Let her be very careful when deciding and at the same time, don't get Lil fired from her job. MY IMPRESSIONS Lil' Guardsman presents the story in several chapters, which are equivalent to each level of the game. Therefore, the game will be the same every time you play, changing only according to the different choices that impact the direction of the story. As for the main gameplay, I was a little disappointed. Every time you release or block a passerby, you receive an evaluation. But, initially, as you only have two options (bar or release), you can simply do this without having to justify anything. And that's where I was disappointed. If it is not mandatory to justify, why am I punished for doing either of the two options? For example, at one point, a character appears covered in blood, as if she had killed someone. I looked at the figure and immediately blocked it, because that's what anyone would do. And then, the game evaluated me: it said I did the right thing, but without any kind of proof. This is a crucial point that the game fails and that makes everything less interesting. If there were a justification system, it would be much better and less subjective. Or there is no such evaluation system. Anyway, this took me out of the game completely, not caring so much about the resources I have to use. Prepare for a lot of text. The entire plot revolves around a big story based on your choices. Some characters reveal things in their lines that can be used later, so you need to pay close attention. Unfortunately, the game is not in Portuguese-Brazil, which makes it very difficult for this audience to be interested in Lil' Guardsman. I hope they add subtitles in that language soon. Furthermore, the characters have original voices, which makes everything more alive. The art is very beautiful and fun, it even feels like you're playing a cartoon. The comedy side is very exacerbated, with dialogues and comical situations always occurring. The mechanics and resources used to question those who want to enter the kingdom are very creative, however, they have uses limited to recharges, which means that you take very little advantage of them, even though they could be used more. I feel like the game doesn't know if it wants to be a puzzle game or if it allows you to be creative, because even though it has all these resources, I always have the feeling that you will only be able to solve it the way it was predicted, except for the moments that change something in the game. history. Still, it's a very interesting and fun game. ACHIEVEMENTS Achievements are linked to the game's levels and the different decisions you make during the story. As for the levels, there are achievements for simply completing them and ones where you have to complete the level with perfect ratings. The story's decisions are diverse, which will make you play again a few times to get 100% of the achievements. CONCLUSION If, like me, you heard that this game was like Papers, Please, you can get that idea out of your head. It may even have served as inspiration and been about a similar profession, but the comparisons stop there. Lil' Guardsman is more of a puzzle game. Here you don't need to evaluate many things, because often the game already gives you what you should do on a plate. I really think the game was halfway between being a linear story or being a game that requires the player to think. Maybe I was just disappointed, because I was excited, but when a game gives you so many tools, but forces you to do it the way it wants, I get a little upset. Still, Lil' Guardsman is worth playing, it's a fun and well-animated experience. It's a shame that it's not yet in Portuguese-Brazil, but I believe that over time, we will get a translation. Rest assured that a lot of people will be much more interested in the game. SCORE: 7.5/10
- Review: Enshrouded
Gather your warriors and fight the creatures that haunt the world in Enshrouded. THE GAME Enshrouded is a survival RPG developed and distributed by Keen Games. After a plague takes over the world because of the ancestors' greed for magical power, the kingdom of Embervale is destroyed. In the role of Flameborn, the last hope for this world, you need to defeat creatures and survive in this world, so that there is a future for the kingdom. Build your base, recruit allies, and make the Ancestral Flame shine brighter. MY IMPRESSIONS The world presented in Enshrouded is quite mysterious and vast. With simple gameplay, but full of variety, we explore this new world in survival mode. When you establish your base, you can build houses and customize everything, having the possibility of creating incredible and well-decorated buildings, as the game offers you good options for materials and objects. Nature provides essential raw materials for creating items such as weapons and armor. Additionally, you can explore ruins and defeat enemies, which also grant important resources. You will have several missions and points of interest across the map to explore and delve into the story, as well as books and letters that you find on your explorations. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil, which is great for those who want to understand more about this world. The fog that plagues the kingdom has creatures that live there, being one of the biggest threats in the game. You can only stay there for a specific time, as the fog is deadly. The battles are simple, but require strategy, as there are different types of weapons and ways to use them. Its skill tree is vast and allows you to mix different styles to suit your way of playing. Want to make a tank mage? He can! A healer archer? Can also! The way the game gives you freedom to be creative, whether in buildings or skills, is a strong point and certainly attracts a lot of attention. ACHIEVEMENTS As it is an open-world RPG game, many achievements are linked to these two aspects, that is, level up, explore every corner of the world and interact with everything possible. There is not much secret to doing 100%, basically, enjoy the game, naturally you will complete all the achievements. CONCLUSION I was surprised by Enshrouded. It was completely off my radar, but it soon caught my attention. Despite the feeling of simplicity it gives me, the game is very competent in what it sets out to do. Building your base is incredibly satisfying, with all the possibilities offered to you. I don't know if it's on purpose, but whenever I re-enter my world to play, all the natural resources return, that is, if I cut down a tree, it will be there again the next time I enter the game, as will the enemies. . On the one hand, it's great, because I don't have to look for resources, on the other hand, it seems like it wasn't supposed to be like this. A few tweaks to the game and it will get even better. I haven't tested the multiplayer mode, but it seems to me that this factor only improves the game even more, since each player can create a character to meet the group's needs, in addition, of course, to making all the exploration and combat much more fun. Enshrouded has everything it needs to be that game that surprises those who play it and has enormous potential to be a great RPG to play with friends. SCORE: 8.0/10
- Review: Regency Solitaire II
Get ready for a good card! THE GAME Regency Solitaire II is a card game developed and distributed by Gray Alien Games. In this Solitaire-style game, complete the levels and earn gold to build a majestic garden on your property, in this plot of real families. MY IMPRESSIONS Firstly, I must warn you that I only played the demo version of the game. So, I only had access to the beginning of the game. So my analysis will be based on that. I played this game's predecessor and, as strange as it may seem, I like this style of gameplay. Despite seeming simplistic and basic, the game presents a good challenge for those who invest time in it. You can play it in small doses or just to pass the time, both ways work. The game is not in Portuguese-Brazil, which may make it difficult for some players to understand the mechanics. Regency Solitaire II, oddly enough, has a story. Nothing too incredible, but a story is told between the levels. It's a game that's worth it for anyone who likes card games, like me, who's addicted to Solitaire. ACHIEVEMENTS As it is a demo version, we do not have achievements, but on its Steam page, it is announced that we will have achievements, which is great. CONCLUSION A card game with a hint of puzzle and no commitment. Regency Solitaire II offers a fun and, at times, challenging pastime. Despite the uninspiring story, the game catches you because it is simple to understand and satisfying to play. It appears to follow exactly its predecessor, but adding new mechanics. It doesn't innovate, but it also doesn't compromise, delivering what it proposes. SCORE: 7.0/10
- Review: Fling To The Finish
Gather your friends, run close to each other and try not to cause trouble in Fling To The Finish. THE GAME Fling To The Finish is a cooperative racing game developed by SplitSide Games and distributed by Daedalic Entertainment. Two little balls connected by a rope, running to the finish line. That's the definition of this fun game. With different scenarios, your objective is to reach the end of the map facing obstacles while coordinating your movements. Additionally, there are several game modes, such as collecting coins across the map or racing against time. Whether alone or with friends, have fun in this exciting crazy race. MY IMPRESSIONS I'm addicted to cooperative games with crazy ideas. And Fling To The Finish provides just that. With simple and chaotic gameplay, you'll have a lot of fun while trying to get through the crazy scenarios that are presented. Additional game modes add extra spice, giving interesting variations to the style of play, as well as challenging the player. Although it can be played alone, Fling To The Finish loses a lot of the fun if it is not played with more than two players. The funny part is the chaos generated by people when playing, so I don't see much point in playing alone. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil, which helps to understand the types of game modes. Even with all the fun and variety of scenarios, it's a game that wears out quickly. It will be that from start to finish, with almost no variation in difficulty in its base mode. However, this is nothing different from what we expect from a casual game. If you keep this in mind, you will always have this game as an option to call friends and have a good laugh. ACHIEVEMENTS The achievements are not many, but they are the most varied. Whether it's unlocking collectibles, breaking time records or getting the maximum rating on some maps, you'll have big challenges to get 100% of the achievements, but nothing that a few good attempts can't solve. CONCLUSION A simple and fun idea is what we find in Fling To The Finish. For those who don't have friends to play with, it may not be the most exciting game, but if you do, it's guaranteed fun. It's a great casual game that, even in its simplicity, finds ways to reach everyone, having more difficult and challenging modes or simply making a general mess. Highly recommended for large groups of friends. SCORE: 7.5/10
- Review: Ship of Fools
When we mix Overcooked with a ocean roguelike theme, the result is Ship of Fools, but how well can this mix be done? Developed by Fika Productions and distributed by Team17. Ship of Fools is the first project from Canadian developer Fika. The game was available on the following platforms: PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, Xbox Series X and Series S. NARRATIVA E GAMEPLAY In the roles of the game's two initial characters, Todd and Hin, we control the ship, fighting monsters and navigating the seas with the most absurd obstacles possible. Ship of Fools is a roguelike game style, where we will see a common progression in this type of game, advancing little by little and facing a map filled with hexagons where we will find enemies, rewards and characters from this crazy story. TRAILER OFFICIAL CONCLUSION Ship of Fool is a fun game, there's no denying it. Although I like similar titles, I thought the color palette left me a little short on this title, and I missed more elaborate animations. Still, Ship of Fools is a fun game, especially if you play with your friends, which makes the game even more attractive since you can assign specific tasks to each sailor. I feel that, despite having done everything right, the game doesn't bring anything new to its genre, it just makes the most of everything that has worked in roguelike games over the years, and adds elements from one game or another to enhance it. - Review: Neptunia Sisters VS Sisters
And let's go for another adventure in the Neptunia series! THE GAME Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters is an RPG developed by Idea Factory and Compile Heart and distributed by Idea Factory International. After the events of two years ago, where there was a battle between goddesses, our warriors wake up from a deep sleep only to discover that their land Planeptune is experiencing outbreaks of strange events. Thus, Nepgear, our protagonist, embarks on her first great adventure to save everyone. Unite all the warriors, prepare for battle and overcome this great challenge. MY IMPRESSIONS Another game in the Neptunia series, which could mean more of the same. In fact, visually, the game looks a lot like its predecessors, which is no defect at all. The game's art is very beautiful and follows the standard. The characters, of which there are many, continue with their characteristic visual identities and will please fans of the series. You can customize your characters visually, which is really cool. The story is very generic and unfolds as if it were a visual novel. The game is not in Portuguese-Brazil, which can make the experience tiring and uninteresting for those who want to follow all the dialogues. And then we get to the part that completely took me out of the game: the gameplay. Yes, just the main element of a game. The mechanics of Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters are terrible. It wants to be a dynamic turn-based game, but it's horrible. You have to accumulate points to make combos. And how to get these points? Why, just doing nothing in battle. You'll have to dodge blows, hope you have enough to execute the blow you want and that's it. The old mode, with fixed turns that is used in most games in this franchise, was much better, in my opinion. The good things about the game were overshadowed by the unfun gameplay, which unfortunately isn't very exciting. And this is the only flaw for me, however, a flaw that compromises the game as a whole. Everything in the universe is there, but the way everything is connected is through gameplay and it doesn't hold up. ACHIEVEMENTS To complete 100% of the achievements, you will need, in addition to finishing the story mode, to win several battles, perform some moves a few times, find treasures, sell and buy items, in short, that entire package of achievements that every RPG has. In the end, you get most of them by playing normally, but they are also easily forced. CONCLUSION Unfortunately, the gameplay of this game really turned me off. Everything seems stuck and tedious. Not all of the characters' personalities are enough to excite. If it had stuck to the basics, it would be a thousand times more fun game. I know that change can be good, but the amount of spin-offs that this series has, it's already been possible to test a lot of things. And here we can say that it didn't work. Still, the fact that it is a series that has a lot of fans and will continue to have successes and mistakes, has a good margin for this. I just hope this gameplay isn't repeated in future games, as it's quite disappointing. I'm upset because, despite not being the biggest fan of Neptunia, I've had a lot of fun with some of the games in the series and this is the least fun of them. SCORE: 5.0/10
- Review: New Cycle
Protect the remaining survivors from a solar apocalypse and try to thrive in this new era in New Cycle. THE GAME New Cycle is a strategy game developed by Core Engage and distributed by Daedalic Entertainment. After a solar flare causes an apocalypse, survivors band together to create a new civilization, to build a future beyond survival. Build a colony, starting from the most basic principles of technology and social coexistence to more modern elements and social issues, all so that the people live in harmony and have a prosperous future. Climate and nature can still bring great dangers to survivors. Manage and lead your people so they can propagate life on Earth once again. MY IMPRESSIONS Firstly, I must warn you that I played New Cycle in an early access period. Therefore, a lot can change. With that in mind, I have to say that the game feels kind of raw and basic. Maybe it's just an impression, but I didn't feel any weight in many of the game's events, whether when a citizen made a request or when the weather advanced over the city. Even though these facts influence the game, there is no visual impact to demonstrate this importance. The game's art is very solid, with a great visual identity and personality, giving the atmosphere of modern evolution. New Cycle is not fully translated into Portuguese-Brazil, but as there are some things translated, I imagine it just isn't complete yet. The gameplay is simple and easy to understand, although there are many factors to note in the game, you will not have difficulty managing them. In my view, it's a game with a lot of potential, since we don't have many games in this style, but we have one that commands and inspires them all: Frostpunk. When complete, it will greatly please players of the genre, as many elements are repeated here. ACHIEVEMENTS Because it's in early access, I didn't have access to the achievements, but I can tell you that the game will have them. Which is great, as it gives players another challenge and this can generate more enthusiasm. CONCLUSION It's impossible not to compare any game of this genre with Frostpunk. It is clear that they are very similar, but each in their own apocalyptic scenario. However, I won't compare them, as New Cycle tries to be itself and make a game that is fun and challenging at the same time. Despite this, I think the game lacked a bit of substance. Weight, you know? It all seems the same to me, but maybe that's just my impression, because it makes sense for things to be that way. New Cycle will be compared immediately, but that's people's fault. Each game must be analyzed separately, as each one has a unique proposal. The game will still be in an early access period before it is finally released and I hope that this will be the determining moment for it to improve even more and include new mechanics, as it has the potential for that. - Review: The Longing
Patience is a virtue. Take it easy. THE GAME The Longing is an idle game developed by Studio Seufz and distributed by Application Systems Heidelberg. Living as the king's loyal Shade, we are ordered to wait for him to wake up, as his powers are weakened. This is how the story of the loyal and lonely Shade begins, who will have to wait for his master's awakening to have some company in the dark and morbid caves of the underground kingdom. Explore the tunnels, draw pictures, play music, read books, in short, do whatever you can to make time pass faster. MY IMPRESSIONS First of all, keep in mind that it is a game that will take time and will be at a very slow pace. It will be a different experience than what you have with other games. Depending on the type of player you are, within the first few minutes of playing, you will want to stop. More than a simple game, The Longing offers you an experience and you must be open to it to enjoy it. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil, which makes it easier to understand some of the directions and tips given by Shade. No, you don't have to wait exactly 400 days of your life to finish the game, although it is still a valid way to reach one of the endings. Every activity in the game speeds up time, as if you were wasting it and not even realizing it. There are still many mysteries to be explored, albeit slowly, as you will have to wait a certain amount of time to access places or obtain items, for example. Even if you don't want to do anything, time passes, even without the game open. It is an experience that tells about loneliness, anxiety, disappointment, discovery, in short, there is a lot to reflect on with The Longing. Play at whatever pace you prefer, but know that every cause has a consequence. ACHIEVEMENTS Achievements are basically about exploration, which is the key point of the game. Acquiring items, finding new places and interacting with objects are some of the examples that unlocked achievements. Just like the whole game, be patient and explore little by little. Pay attention to what the Shade says, as they are valuable tips. It's a game in which you'll have to work hard to get 100% of the achievements. CONCLUSION At the time of this review, I still haven't finished the game. I still have a lot to explore and a lot to look forward to. It's not an easy game to digest, as it has its own rhythm. It was made to be the vision of its creators, with no shortcuts, no easy way. And they focus a lot on this point, on what their vision of the game is and what they want to convey. The Longing won't appeal to all types of players, but those who embark on this adventure will have a unique experience. This type of game is an unusual and risky form, but welcome, as video games are also art and we need different visions, even if they don't appeal to all audiences. SCORE: 7.5/10
- Review: My Time At Sandrock
Get ready to live an adventure in the middle of the desert as you help the residents of Sandrock make the city prosper. THE GAME My Time At Sandrock is a life-sim developed by Pathea Games and distributed by Pathea Games, Focus Entertainment, PM Studios, Inc. and DMM Games. In a post-apocalyptic world, 300 years after the day of calamity destroyed much of modern technology, our character moves to Sandrock, a city in the middle of the desert that struggles to survive in the conditions of drought and water scarcity. Furthermore, a group of villains wants to destroy the city at all costs. And we, as the new builders of Sandrock, will help the people in any way we can, whether it's building machines and structures or helping local rangers get rid of enemies. You can still upgrade your home, add structures, plant crops, take care of animals, start a family, in short, it's a world full of things to do. Explore the world of My Time At Sandrock and you will find lots of fun. MY IMPRESSIONS As I'm addicted to life-sim games, I'll tell you: the game is very good. I confess that at first I found the gameplay and graphics a little strange, but I was soon won over. The gameplay is simple, despite having many elements. At first you may feel a little lost, but you can rest assured that everything is going well. As I said in the previous topic, you will have many things to do in the game, in addition to following the main story. And because of that, this game will totally hook you. As for the graphics, they are beautiful and cheerful, matching the content of the game. My Time At Sandrock is in Portuguese-Brazil, which helps you follow the story and not get lost with so much information. My only reservation is that there are some errors in the translation, which bother me slightly, but it doesn't bother me at all, just my own curiosity. The main story is interesting and even has some plot twists, which make the story very attractive. The characters are charismatic and have personality. You end up sympathizing with almost everyone in the city and they are essential for you to get involved with the story. The city is not big, but that's not a bad thing. Her disposition makes it seem like she is much bigger. The rest of the map is quite vast, but very desert-like, as the game's theme suggests. Item creation is quite vast, as are the equipment options for your character. Both your house and your character will be very customized, just the way you prefer. The progression may seem slow, but you won't even feel it, as there is always something to do. The game's combat is very simple and doesn't require much skill. The only thing that may upset you is the creation time of some items, which take a certain period of time to be made, which at times can slow down your progress a little, but it is part of the gameplay. Anyway, My Time At Sandrock is a dish full of fun. Everything is well executed, so that it doesn't become boring, repetitive or slow. It's a complete life-sim, with a lot of customization and variety of activities. It's a great game to pass the time. And it will pass. Furthermore, it also has a multiplayer option, which opens up an even greater range of possibilities. Without a doubt, it is a game that is worth checking out. ACHIEVEMENTS Just like every life-sim, the achievements will be quite varied according to each activity. So you can be sure that you will have to do a little bit of everything in the game, from finding chests and giving gifts to residents to picking up trash and poop from the floor. Do everything you can and you will definitely unlock some achievement. Interact with the residents, as there are many achievements related to them. In addition, of course, to the achievements on the main story, which you will achieve naturally as the game progresses. It will take you a long time to do 100%, given the game's multitude of activities and objectives, but they are more time-consuming than difficult. CONCLUSION I think I can sum up the game in one sentence: it was the game I played the most in 2023. That says a lot about how engaging and addictive the game is. At least for me, who love life-sim. And I could have played much more, but as I played it on the Steam Deck, my sessions were hostage to the device's battery. Every time I played I couldn't stop, I always wanted to play just one more day in the game, which turned into two or three. Even when I was lost or aimless, I found a way to occupy the time within the game until something new happened. I played and felt that I hadn't yet scratched the surface of the game, which is adding items and mechanics at a great pace. I can say that My Time At Sandrock was a pleasant surprise, I had a lot of fun playing and discovering this world that is presented. Unfortunately, I haven't played its predecessor, My Time At Portia, so I can't compare the evolution from one game to the next, but what I can say is that it's an extremely fun and relaxing game to play, with a long life and a great hobby. Sandrock will become your home for some good times. SCORE: 9.0/10
- Review: Cosplay Club
If your dream has always been a magical girl, at Cosplay Club you can make it come true. THE GAME Cosplay Club is a turn-based tactical RPG developed and distributed by Behold Studios. Embody a girl who loves cosplay and goes to different events when, suddenly, you discover a magical backpack in the basement of her house. It belonged to her mother, who was a magical girl. Thus, the backpack, which has a life of its own, gives you powers and helps you on your adventures through events, battling alongside it and helping you become the best magical girl cosplayer. MY IMPRESSIONS Everything that comes from Behold Studios gives me a lot of expectations, as they developed Chroma Squad, which is one of my favorite indie games. Despite using a visual style that doesn't appeal to me, I still gave my vote of confidence and went after playing Cosplay Club. I must warn you that the game is in early access at the time of this review, so a lot can change. And it should, because what I found when playing Cosplay Club was a game with a lot of bugs. And that in itself ruined my experience. Invisible walls, buggy NPCs, loading screens that freeze and never come back. This and other small details really ruined my experience with the game. Cosplay Club is not yet in Portuguese-Brazil, but it certainly will be, as it is a Brazilian studio that develops it. The game's theme is cool and very creative. The fun part of the game is putting together your cosplay. You will buy new parts to put together a new and more powerful cosplay, as it dictates your status and abilities. The only problem is that you have to put together a new cosplay every time you want to change something or add a new accessory. If there is an option for this, it is very hidden as I couldn't find it at all. If it doesn't exist, it should be added as soon as possible. The combats are simple and flow well, with a combined attack system with your allies. I didn't feel any high difficulty in my battles, they were all very easy to win. What disappointed me was that the game seems to have no soul. All Behold Studios games are incredibly fun and funny, full of references. In Cosplay Club, I felt like I was playing a generic game. Nothing has weight, no character is captivating, the missions are irrelevant, there is no story there that holds you back. It seems like the game is going to be an endless cycle of "create the cosplay, go to the event, do missions that lead you nowhere, go back home" and that's not fun at all. ACHIEVEMENTS The game does not have achievements, but as it is in early access, we can expect them to be added later, as Behold Studios games always have achievements. CONCLUSION It pains me to say this, but this game is disappointing. I'm not going to slam the hammer, as the game is in early access, but it will be difficult for it to change much more than it is now. If it weren't for the references to Chroma Squad that we have in the game, like the cosplays and apparently taking place in the same universe as it, I wouldn't say that this game is from Behold Studios. I highlight the bugs, because they are things that really happen and that's what early access is for, but everything else is soulless. In my opinion, it would be much better if the game was more linear, with a more consistent and interesting story, using cosplays as if they were unique equipment and not an unalterable build. The game had interesting potential, but the execution wasn't the best. It's all very confusing and unmotivated. Unfortunately, this time Behold Studios disappointed me. Is very. SCORE: 5.5/10
- Review: Extremely Powerful Capybaras
Capybaras are extremely cute animals, but did you know they are extremely powerful? Find out in Extremely Powerful Capybaras. THE GAME Extremely Powerful Capybaras is a roguelite developed by Studio Bravarda and distributed by PM Studios Inc. and Logoi Games. In search of their survival, capybaras go into battle, choosing a class and defeating the various dangers that haunt the forests. Whether playing alone or with up to four friends, battle powerful enemies, unlock and upgrade your powers to become the strongest capybara of all time! MY IMPRESSIONS Games inspired by Vampire Survivor are appearing more and more and that's great. The question is how to do something unique and different. In Extremely Powerful Capybaras, for me, the biggest difference is the theme. As a Brazilian, I easily picked up all the references to Brazilian culture and this makes the game interesting. In fact, the game is in Portuguese-Brazil, as the developers are Brazilian. The art is very beautiful and cartoonish, adding a humorous tone to the game. The gameplay is simple, at first the game will seem difficult, but that's because you have few skills unlocked. Still, it is entirely possible to beat the three available maps very quickly. In fact, I missed the variety of maps. Still on this topic, the maps feature blind spots, such as walls and houses, which often obstruct vision, for example, some enemies become trapped behind these structures and you end up taking damage or even dying due to being caught by surprise. I felt that the skills and powers were very basic and not very inspiring. Unlike the creativity in naming and referencing Brazilian culture, I thought there was a lack of good ideas in the execution of the powers. I always ended up getting the same skills, because I didn't feel like the rest made a difference or were even fun. In fact, many powers are directional, that is, they will be thrown in the direction your character is walking. In a game like this, in my opinion, these are the most boring powers to use. Class skills are also not exciting, only being interesting when evolving your class, which usually happens in the final three minutes of the map. Anyway, this aspect, in general, left something to be desired. By completing the three maps, you release frenzy, which are modifiers for your maps, such as increasing the number of enemies or increasing their damage, for example. This adds an extra challenge to the game and helps you speed up unlocking skills. With this, we have a replay factor, but I don't know if it inspires players to continue playing after completing all the maps, I believe that only those looking to complete all the achievements will be interested. Overall, Extremely Powerful Capybaras is a fun and creative game, only faltering in a few spots. I would like it to keep it simple and invest in diversity, like new weapon combos or perhaps new class evolutions. The pace of the game is largely dictated by time and not by the player's skill. Still, this beautiful game is worth trying. ACHIEVEMENTS The progression of achievements is very smooth. When you finish the three available maps, you may be close to completing all the achievements. In addition to beating the maps, we have achievements linked to spending your coins on improvements, unlocking classes, making them more powerful and playing maps with frenzy levels. It's a very easy game to get 100% of the achievements. CONCLUSION I like new approaches to this path that Vampire Survivor paved. And one thing that is extremely important in this genre is that it is satisfying. Whether in its mechanics, its powers or its diversity, the game has to be a pleasure to play. Extremely Powerful Capybaras has its moments of satisfaction, but the diversity left something to be desired. Not for variety, but for creativity in mechanics. I just had fun playing with the same amount of specific powers and this made the game repetitive. Despite this, it is a game that has its merits, both in its use of Brazilian culture and in trying to put its unique touch on a genre that has been very explored lately. And as it's a game made by Brazilians, I will always strongly recommend that you play and try it out. I play more and more games from Brazilian developers and I see more and more potential in them. Even if the game is not perfect in the eyes of some, only by moving the industry and taking more and more risks will we see increasingly better and cooler games. SCORE: 7.0/10
- Review: For The King 2
Gather your best adventurers to brave Fahrul in search of the people's salvation in For The King 2. THE GAME For The King 2 is a roguelite RPG developed by IronOak Games and distributed by Curve Games. By joining forces with evil forces, Queen Rosomon, who was once loved by her people, forces them into servitude in the mines of Fahrul. And that's where your adventure begins. Assemble your team of four adventurers and stop the evil queen so that her reign of darkness ends. As it is a roguelite game, remember: not all of your adventurers may reach the end of this journey. Explore the maps and equip yourself, as you will encounter great dangers. MY IMPRESSIONS RPGs are wonderful for their range of possibilities alone, add that to the roguelite genre and you'll have hours and hours of fun. For The King 2 brings the best thing about a tabletop RPG: unpredictability. Even with clear objectives in your missions, you may end up facing challenges that are greater than you can handle. Still, you have many ways to get around adverse situations rather than being forced to live with your mistakes. And making mistakes is part of the game, as it is very difficult for you to complete a map your first time playing. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil, which is a great help in understanding all the mechanics and details of each aspect of the game. Speaking of which, despite having many factors and mechanics, the game explains in a simple way how each thing works, without complicating the player's mind too much. The story takes place in five acts, which are the five available adventures. Each act is a different map, which always changes when playing a new game, meaning you will never have a repeat game. In addition to the main objective of the act, you can also accept secondary missions to obtain rewards and improve the power of your adventurers. Just pay attention to the events on the map, because the longer it takes you to accomplish the main objective, the more difficult the game becomes. Combat is simple, but requires a lot of strategy. Even the weakest enemies can complicate you in some way, such as placing a curse on your character, for example. The game's art follows the path of simplicity, but with a lot of personality. I really liked what For The King 2 proposes and executes, in a fun and uncomplicated way. And because it's a roguelite, there's no way to say that it doesn't make you want to play one game after another, even if a simple run takes a long time. ACHIEVEMENTS I'd be lying if I said that it's easy to complete 100% of the achievements in For The King 2. Apart from the basics, which are beating the maps and finishing the main story, you'll have a long journey ahead of you, whether it's leveling up your characters, beating thousands of enemies or doing side missions. This and much more will be required to complete all achievements. Remember that it is a game where your matches take time and some events may not happen, so don't get frustrated. Just enjoy the game, most of the achievements you will get naturally in one of its many adventures. CONCLUSION Despite being a game with long matches, For The King 2 knows how to keep your attention. Assembling the ideal quartet of adventurers, equipping and improving them is very satisfying. The game's difficulty is just right, always keeping you alert so you don't falter. The roguelite fact makes everything even better, because even if you are defeated, you will come back stronger. It may take a long time, as the progression to unlock new characters and items is not so easy, but if you like the game, you won't even feel the time passing while you try again. The union of RPG and roguelite is a huge success. The RPG genre, more precisely the tabletop one, is becoming increasingly popular and I hope it continues to give us good results like For The King 2. I'm curious what will come next, as it has already been announced that we will have updates, additions and even DLCs, which is cool, because I see the developers' concern in keeping the game alive and treating it with care.
