  • Review: Schim

Schim is a platform and exploration game in which we assume the role of a shadow. Our only way of moving is by jumping between the shadows of objects around us, creating a unique and engaging dynamic. GAMEPLAY / VISUAL Undoubtedly, the visual aspect of Schim is one of the game's most highlighted points. Each type of setting is stunningly well-made, despite its simplicity. The gameplay also deserves attention, as there is nothing quite like what we see in Schim. We are put in the role of a "shadow" that more closely resembles a frog, jumping from shadow to shadow, and we need to complete a story of self-reunion, from our human's childhood to their work-related problems. Surprisingly, Schim has an interesting story background that does not interfere with the gameplay at any point. Perhaps the only drawback is that the game takes a little while to pick up at the beginning. Almost every object we enter as a shadow is interactive and has its own animation. The number of objects in Schim is huge, although it becomes repetitive in some moments closer to the end of the game. Schim offers extremely high-quality gameplay and a lot of diversity, something that is really lacking in many games. ACHIEVEMENTS The vast majority of the game's achievements are attainable and some are even creative. However, what somewhat hampers the experience of achievements are the collectibles in all the levels. In this regard, I believe the company misjudged what players truly appreciate in these games. It is much more beneficial to include challenges like the Hole in One achievement in the golf course, rather than requiring the collection of three extremely hidden items per stage. This type of achievement forces players, who play to complete all achievements, to finish the game with a guide open next to them, which ends up compromising the game experience a bit. TRAILER OFFICIAL Resume Schim is a delight. Without a doubt, it is an extremely well-made game, with a unique gameplay mechanic and its own style. We cannot classify it solely as a puzzle game, although it contains elements of that genre. The game stands out more for world exploration and story contemplation than anything else. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to experience many good indie games this year, but without a doubt, Schim stands out as one of them. Review by Gamertag: Scoulz SCORE: 75/100

  • Review: Wild Seas

How nice it is to see a genre you love have a competent game. Tower defense is, without a doubt, one of the game genres I've played the most in my life, especially the classic mods of Warcraft III on Garena. Wild Seas is a great choice for those who want to revisit the genre. GAMEPLAY / VISUAL In the game with extremely cute graphics, we control a friendly crocodile who needs to defend a strategically poorly positioned jewel from evil pirates. To do this, we build different types of turrets with various functionalities, such as launching missiles, mortars, and even healing our character. Functioning like a standard tower defense game, the pirates come in waves. We can throw a few punches to get rid of them, but the main focus is on maintaining and upgrading our turrets. As the pirates die, they drop treasure chests containing coins or a wrench to repair any damaged turret. ACHIEVEMENTS I completed all the achievements in the game, and right after that, the company released new achievements to be reached. I would say that Wild Seas suffers from the unfortunate issue of being so easy that the game ends up not proving itself enough. We can simply complete all the achievements in the first or second stage of the game. Like some companies have been doing, they release more and more achievements to attract players who are focused on that. However, in the case of Wild Seas, I don't think this was necessary. The game is fun and really enjoyable, but it could have gone further if it had achievements that showed a more intrinsic and challenging progression. TRAILER OFFICIAL RESUME Wild Seas is a good tower defense game, but it could be more. It seems that the developers didn't believe in the potential of the genre or the game. It's a shame because I believe it could have been much more robust. However, it is important to value small and well-made games. The visual aspect of Wild Seas is really well done, and you can spend several enjoyable hours playing it. Review by Gamertag: Scoulz SCORE: 68/100

  • Review: Primal Survivors

Primal Survivors is an isometric view game in the style of Vampire Survivor, where players are transported to a primitive era and can perform various upgrades in their skill tree. GAMEPLAY The game offers different modes with slight variations between them. Players can choose from various primitive beasts, such as the spirit of the wolf, the tiger, and others, taking on the role of an inner shaman. As the game progresses, we advance until we face bosses. The battles against these bosses are quite interesting, each with specific movements. From my experience, all the bosses had two phases, with variations in movements in the second phase. The game is quite fun in terms of challenge, but I believe the progression could be better developed. VISUAL AND NARRATIVE This new survival genre is undoubtedly one of the most diverse, with some truly notable variations. Primal Survivors is a game that offers acceptable quality, but it falls short of being spectacular. It is competent in its theme. However, in terms of visuals, the game is lacking. The environments, enemy variations, graphical effects, and even the design of the main character seem somewhat generic. A positive highlight is the artwork related to the skills acquired along the way, which is truly excellent. ACHIEVEMENTS Primal Survivors is likely the type of game that will receive several updates over time. During my analysis, for instance, more achievements were added, challenging me to earn an additional 1000G in Xbox achievements. While not bad, I wish the achievements were more thoughtfully crafted than simply 'kill 20 snakes and earn 200G'. This seems somewhat lazy, especially considering the game is fun and could provide hours of entertainment. However, I believe the developers aimed to attract an achievement-focused audience, which I find regrettable. TRAILER OFFICIAL RESUME Primal Survivors is a satisfying game. It's enjoyable and fulfills its role well as a survival-style game, but I believe it could have been better developed in terms of visual aspects and the organization of difficulty in relation to player progression. It's not very engaging when a developer makes the game so easy that achieving all the accomplishments becomes simple. I think they should have considered something more challenging and well-crafted.  Review by Gamertag: Scoulz SCORE: 62/100

  • Review: Shogun Showdown

Calculate each move and defeat different enemies in Shogun Showdown. THE GAME Shogun Showdown is a turn-based roguelike developed by Robatino and distributed by Goblinz Publishing and Gamera Games . With different characters, your mission is to defeat different enemies along the way to reach and face the Shogun , your final enemy. Plan all your movements well as your enemies are also preparing to attack you, each in their respective turn. During your adventure, improve your range of weapons and skills to have more possibilities for attacks and combos to reach your final objective. MY IMPRESSIONS Roguelike is a style of game that can go very well or very wrong, there is no middle ground. It's a genre that is made to be addictive, and if it doesn't achieve that, it will probably be a failure. Shogun Showdown is extremely addictive and wonderfully enjoyable to play. Considering it has deckbuilding elements, which is a genre that is currently saturated and few do well, Shogun Showdown uses this element very nicely. The turn-based combat, which takes place in 2D, requires strategy and can leave you in complicated situations, but which are rewarding when you manage to defeat enemies without taking damage, for example. The combinations of weapons and skills are very good, allowing for very satisfying combos. The possible improvements for both weapons and skills and passives are balanced between burdens and bonuses, but which allow, depending on how far you progress, to have a very strong build. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil , which helps to understand the description of each weapon and ability. The art of the game is very pleasant , especially the colors used make everything more vivid. As you play, you will unlock characters that have different characteristics, weapons and starting skills, which means you can use characters that better suit your play style. Each time you defeat the Shogun, you unlock new difficulty levels, which make enemies more difficult and with additional characteristics. Additionally, you earn points to free up more cards to be used. There are also consumable items, which add another layer of strategy to your game. Put everything I said together and you will understand why this game is so addictive . It makes you want more and more, without being unfair or complicated, with a very good learning curve. Shogun Showdown manages to unite many aspects in an incredible harmony that, even in defeats, makes you satisfied with the game. ACHIEVEMENTS When it comes to roguelike, we know that you will have to play several times normally. Add achievements and you will play even more and have more challenges . In addition to more basic achievements, such as defeating some bosses throughout the game, you will have some interesting challenges to complete some achievements. Defeating a boss and dying in the same turn, dealing 25 damage in a single hit, beating the Shogun without using a healing potion throughout your run are just some of the challenging achievements possible. Furthermore, the game has a system of stamps that you earn by beating Shogun, which are acquired when certain requirements are completed. Naturally, there are achievements linked to stamps. As it is an extremely addictive game with a high level of replayability , many achievements will be made without being noticed. Others will make you play with an additional challenge, which are not impossible, but add an additional layer of difficulty . It will certainly be work to do 100%, but it will be extremely fun. CONCLUSION Shogun Showdown hooked me like no other roguelike had been doing lately. It's so enjoyable to play that even though I lost, I felt like it was my fault for playing badly and not that the game was being unfair. It's incredible how they combined so many mechanics in such a simple way and that's the secret to this game's success . For those who like roguelikes, like me, Shogun Showdown is certainly among the best of recent times. What makes me even more impressed: the game is in early access . I left this information for last to show that, even in early access, the game is complete. I wonder what else they will do to improve it, if we will have more weapons and skills, more characters, in short, with such a solid base, it will be easier to evolve. The developers are to be congratulated on Shogun Showdown and I highly recommend playing it , even for those who aren't a big fan of this style of game. You won't regret it, play and get hooked. • Review: First Dwarf

Pilot your mecha and explore floating islands accompanied by a dragon in First Dwarf. THE GAME First Dwarf is an action survival game developed by Star Drifters  and distributed by 4Divinity and Star Drifters . Piloting his mecha, the dwarf Tru has the mission to find resources and a new home for his clan, as the world is no longer as they knew it. Accompanied by the dragon Ragna , Tru must pave the way for her clan to secure their future and honor their family name. Build bases, explore resources, discover new technologies and defend your peers from hostile creatures in First Dwarf. MY IMPRESSIONS It is important to note that, at the time of this review, the game is in early access . So, even if I have some criticisms, I know that in the future everything will be much better. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil , however, not 100% translated yet. First Dwarf has a lot of interesting mechanics and ideas going on at once. We have fundraising, creation of bases, technology research, base defense, in short, there really is a lot. And the best thing is that none of these ideals trample the other . On the contrary, they talk very well to each other. In addition to the aforementioned mechanics, we also have character change, in which you can switch between Tru and Ragna, each with their specific skills. Tru can still pilot her mecha, which is actually what will happen for most of your game. The setting is very simple, but it does its job well, without visually polluting the map. Attacks on your base are frequent and you must be very alert . Combat using the mecha has a kind of perfect timing to attack which, if done correctly, will be more effective. I encountered some problems while playing, like getting stuck on a mission because I used a resource that I can no longer get to do something else, however, these are normal things in early access games and this in no way changes how I see the game. Even though it still needs some polish in gameplay and graphics, it's a very fun game. ACHIEVEMENTS The game does not have achievements but, as previously mentioned, the game is in early access at the time of this review, so I imagine that due to the style of play, achievements will be added in the future. If it's not in the plans, it should be , as it would be a great addition. CONCLUSION I liked what I saw and what the game promises to deliver. In its current state, it is still a little stuck and needs more fluidity, but these are things that will certainly be improved. First Dwarf has a lot of potential , being a game with a lot of room to grow and evolve. With the right time and no rush to deliver what it promises, it will be a very interesting title to follow . The developers have a good base to work from and I hope they do a good job. SCORE: 6.5/10

  • Review: Gladiator Guild Manager

Assemble your gladiator guild and enter the arenas to consecrate your warriors. THE GAME Gladiator Guild Manager is a strategy and management game developed by Entertainment Forge and distributed by GrabTheGames, Gamera Games and UpgradePoint. As command of a warrior guild, you will recruit, train and equip your gladiators to be prepared for battle. Once inside the arena, position your fighters to face enemies in different challenges, whether outnumbered or against powerful warriors. Additionally, fulfill factions' requests and face powerful enemies, but remember: helping one may not please the other. MY IMPRESSIONS I'll start with a warning: it's addictive. Once you get into the game, you won't want to stop. The pace of the game is good and doesn't leave you doing nothing, however, I feel that, after many cycles within the game, everything becomes very repetitive. As long as you're discovering things and trying out the different types of warriors, it's a lot of fun. The game's difficulty is very adaptable for all types of players. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil, which helps a lot in understanding the items, skills and missions, for example. Gladiator Guild Manager, combining aesthetics with gameplay, reminds me a lot of the browser games we played as kids on gaming websites. That idea of a simple yet addictive game that attracted us so much and made us spend afternoons playing. Battles occur automatically, with the player being able to prioritize which enemy to attack, which is crucial to winning some battles. The item and skill mechanics make everything much more varied, with very interesting combinations. Adding up all these factors, I say again, you won't notice time passing while playing. ACHIEVEMENTS We have very varied achievements here. In addition to the more basic ones, such as defeating a certain number of enemies, for example, some achievements are related to missions given by the factions, which direct you to fights against bosses. Each boss defeated is an achievement, in this case. Additionally, we have speedrun achievements and difficulties, which may not appeal to most players, but will provide a great challenge. As you can see, it's not easy to complete 100% of the achievements and, if you try, it will take you a considerable amount of time to complete. CONCLUSION Gladiator Guild Manager is the typical game to play without commitment. Although it is possible to adjust the game's difficulty to something more difficult, the game itself is very simple and does not demand much from the player, even when it comes to management. The evolution curve of the characters added to the time that passes within the game cadences its rhythm and makes you play without stopping. Still, I see that simplicity here is a double-edged sword, because just as it attracts you due to its ease, it soon pushes you away due to its lack of novelty. Version 1.0 was released close to the date I wrote this text. If we compare the game that was in early access for 3 years and its current version, we see great progress, with many corrections and polishes, things that have changed the player's experience for the better. I hope they continue to add content to the game, as I see great potential to continue improving this fun game. SCORE: 7.5/10

  • Review: Indika

Can your faith move mountains? THE GAME Indika is a narrative and puzzle game developed by Odd Meter and distributed by 11 bit studios. Set in an alternative Russia, we take on the role of Indika, a young nun, who also gives the game its name. Living in a monastery full of other nuns, Indika is disliked by the other devotees. Sent on a mission, Indika leaves the confinement of living within the monastery walls and sets out on an adventure that will challenge both her physical strength and her faith. This faith is already very much questioned by our protagonist, given that she has a peculiar companion: the devil himself. With many questions and moral questions, we follow Indika on her journey of self-discovery that, in one way or another, will make the player question themselves too. MY IMPRESSIONS With an interesting narrative and full of moral questions, Indika is an extremely intriguing game. I confess that I initially thought it would be a horror game, even due to the aesthetics presented: dark and with a religious theme. Although there are some scares here or there, the game does not have this as its main attraction. While walking through an alternative 19th century Russia, our protagonist comes across a devastated and almost deserted landscape. Therefore, there are some puzzles to advance the story. Nothing too complicated, they are there to give the player a challenge, otherwise it would just be a walking game. In addition to the normal gameplay, the game has two mechanics that are completely different from Indika's main idea. The first are points, which are collected in different ways during the journey and are used to improve Indika's skill tree. Even though the game itself explicitly says that points are useless, there is that player's impulse to want to get points, hoping that maybe it will be useful for something in the future. And does it work? Well, I'll leave it up to you to find out. The second mechanic is the minigames, which always tell something about Indika's past during the story. It's a creative way of telling something from the past, completely changing the game's aesthetics to pixel art. The story and dilemmas proposed by the game are very interesting, making you think at all times, without giving you any answers to your questions and leaving everything open for discussion. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil, which is great for better understanding both the story and the questions presented. The voice actors do a great job of conveying emotions to the characters, especially the protagonist Indika. Despite being short, Indika is a well-paced game. Some will say that it could be a little longer, but I believe that the game's proposal is complete and, if it is to increase the duration and this does not add anything to the final balance, it is better to stay as it is. I think I can say that this is a more artistic game, with the developers' vision clearly exposed of how they wanted the game to be, very different from what we see a lot in the industry. ACHIEVEMENTS In addition to the achievements linked to the progress of the stories, we have some others in which specific actions must be carried out, such as, for example, praying in certain locations, finding hidden items or even failing several times in a specific challenge. I recommend playing everything without thinking about the achievements, as the game has the option to select stages, that is, you can return to specific points in the story, then you can return and complete the missing achievements. CONCLUSION Indika will surprise you. It could be due to the story, the genre, the questions presented, in short, something will catch your attention during the game. A lot of people won't like it, either because of the short duration or because of the developers' vision, but they will be in the minority. It's a pleasant experience and one that will make you question many things. I liked the different way things happen, in a way you don't expect. The way the developers created to put you in Indika's shoes, feeling what she is feeling is, in fact, very interesting. There are many other factors that make the experience unique, but I avoided commenting as I would be spoiling the surprises that the game brings. It's a great game to break out of the sameness of the industry and see something different, but it doesn't alienate any type of player. SCORE: 8.0/10

  • Review: Terra Memoria

A cozy take on classic RPG games, which brings everything that is truly essential to the genre in a pleasant and rewarding way. Terra Memoria is like a comforting hug for any turn-based game aficionado. GAMEPLAY This is perhaps a point to ask ourselves about Terra Memoria, since the game does not present the complexity that we find in more elaborate RPGs. There is no Nature system, Escape, the possibility of using items during battle, chances of critical hits or even the chance of missing a hit. It's curious: Terra Memoria is extremely simple. If we place it alongside exponents of the genre, it becomes clear that each aspect was approached in a different way compared to other games of the same style. However, the map can become a little challenging if you need something more specific, as there are extremely similar areas when we are in the same biome. STORY AND GRAPHICS The game's graphics are simply incredible, unique characters, phenomenal art, and extremely relaxing music. Everything is impressive in this game. The narrative revolves around an investigation into the whereabouts of the crystals that supply energy to the region. We follow the journey of six characters, each with their own stories and personalities, as they unravel the mystery of crystals. As the plot unfolds, we explore how each character will have their story concluded in this incredible world. We follow the perspective of six main characters in Terra Memoria: three playable and three support. Each of them is richer and more complex than the other. I would venture to say that, even if Terra Memoria were a bad game, the charisma of the protagonists would still be able to sustain it in an exemplary way, thanks to the intricate references to anime and gaming culture in general. Incorporating references to anime and gaming culture, which adds an extra layer of charm and familiarity for fans of these genres. The narrative is accompanied by cozy music that perfectly complements the game's atmosphere, creating an auditory experience that is as immersive as the visual one. ACHIEVEMENTS As an achievement-focused portal, we often criticize developers for being too heavy-handed or too lax with some achievements, something that is crucial for players today. Terra Memoria hits the nail on the head in this game's list of achievements. The achievements are well designed, with no missable items or time-consuming collectibles. They involve the story and dynamics of the game, without demanding too much or too little from the players. I can say that Terra Memoria strikes the perfect balance in terms of achievements and should serve as an example for developers, both in this genre and others. TRAILER OFFICIAL RESUME For me, it is curious to have contact with Terra Memoria, considering my varied experiences with turn-based RPG games. For a while, I even moved away from the genre. I tried to come back with Octopath Traveler, Persona 4 Golden, and several other games with different approaches to the genre. However, Terra Memoria was a surreal experience in my career as a player. I can safely say that, alongside War Mongrels, it is one of the best games I have ever reviewed for this portal. Of course, it would be unfair to compare an RTT with an RPG, as they are different proposals. But in terms of sensation, playing Terra Memoria was so magical that it made me remember the hours I spent playing Golden Sun on the emulator or discovering secrets in Pokémon. Terra Memoria has two points that, in my opinion, could be better worked on: simplicity and level design. These aspects could be improved to further enrich the experience. Looking at the game map, it appears that parts are missing, possibly for a future DLC, sequel, or patches. Despite these criticisms, I cannot deny that Terra Memoria is satisfactory in everything it proposes. Even with some areas that could be improved, the magic and nostalgia that the game evokes are undeniable, making it a memorable experience. Review by Gamertag: Scoulz SCORE: 92/100

  • Review: Tell Me Your Story

A cute and light way of telling stories. THE GAME Tell Me Your Story is a puzzle game developed and distributed by RedDeer Games. We follow Amelia and her grandmother, Rose, reliving stories of adventures while they spend vacations together. While Rose tells her stories, Amelia, who has a very fertile imagination, imagines how these stories happened, passing through different places around the world, such as Asia, Europe and South America. To advance in the adventures narrated by images, we must solve simple and themes of each region where the story takes place, with diverse cultural references. Enjoy this comfortable dynamic between granddaughter and grandmother and enjoy an adorable story. MY IMPRESSIONS The way of telling stories through beautiful or cute images, along with some puzzles to advance the story are very common. It's a simple formula that works for its purpose. Generally, they are not long games. That said, Tell Me Your Story uses this exact formula. And don't see this as a negative point, the basics are also good, just don't expect anything different from that. The story is very cute and simple, with everything being told through images, without lines. In fact, the game is not in Portuguese-Brazil, but this will not influence its gameplay. I liked the graphic style adopted, it really suits the atmosphere of the game. Despite passing through some places in the world, I feel like there could be more places and cultures to explore. The game could be a little longer, as it is a very simple game. As for the puzzles, most of them are simple, but some of them will take you a while to understand the dynamics. Perhaps there is a lack of clarity in what is requested. Even though there is a tip button, it is often a subjective tip, which doesn't help much. Overall, it's a quick game, with a cute and easy-to-understand story. ACHIEVEMENTS The game's achievements are very easy to complete, since they are all linked to the course of the story, that is, finish the game and you will have completed everything, except one achievement, which is using the game's tip. There's not much of a secret, you can easily achieve 100%. CONCLUSION Tell Me Your Story fulfills its role well: being a simple and cute game, with a cool story between granddaughter and grandmother. It's a very specific style of game that appeals to an audience that really likes the artistic style and story. It's a great pastime, but I would like it to be longer, taking place on more continents, perhaps some less known, so that cultures less covered in pop culture are also valued. Furthermore, some puzzles, despite being simple, are confusing and you will have to solve them through trial and error. Still, for those who like comfortable games, Tell Me Your Story is a good choice. SCORE: 7.0/10

  • Review: Midnight Ghost Hunt

Whether you are a ghost or a hunter, teamwork is essential to defeat your enemies. THE GAME Midnight Ghost Hunt is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game developed by Vaulted Sky Games and distributed by Coffee Stain. In a four versus four combat, the hunters will answer the call to exterminate the ghosts, who in turn, have objects to hide. However, the hunters become hunted if they don't exterminate all the ghosts by midnight. Use powers and weapons with different uses to achieve your objective and defeat the enemy team before your entire team is hunted down. MY IMPRESSIONS Hide and seek style games are nothing new, but there aren't many representatives in the industry either. Midnight Ghost Hunt came to increase the range of games in this style. With many different features, initially, the game may seem a little confusing. Many skills and weapons to be learned, both from hunters and ghosts. Even if you don't have access to all of them right away, you may be caught by surprise if you don't understand how some mechanics work. In fact, most of them are really cool, but I like simpler things and I thought there were too many unnecessary things. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil, which makes it easier to understand how everything works. A basic mechanic that I didn't like so much is that ghosts can't stay still for a long time or they will be more easily detected. I understand the need for this, as the maps are large and the time for each phase is short, but what I find funniest in games like this is hiding, seeing enemies on your side looking like crazy and having no idea where you are. With this mechanic, you are forced to move without stopping, otherwise the detector will soon recognize your location. I believe this was added to make the matches busier, however, I didn't like it. However, I really liked the idea of hunted people becoming hunters, which is the highlight. If just one ghost survives until midnight, everyone on your team comes back to life in search of revenge. However, one thing that even confused me was thinking that the hunters would be defenseless and would have to hold out for a certain amount of time to survive. My mistake. Hunters can still defend themselves and win the game. So there are many different ways to win a game, even those that seemed lost. Character customization adds extra charm and makes your character more unique. Midnight Ghost Hunt doesn't stray far from that. For those who like competitive games full of different strategies, you will really like it. Playing with friends is highly recommended, because it's always more fun. ACHIEVEMENTS Most achievements are basically linked to eliminations using different weapons and skills several times. For those who are going to play a lot of games, you will eventually get a lot of them, even if you have to force the use of some if you don't like them very much. Furthermore, making taunts, winning matches, unlocking cosmetics and other specific actions also have their respective achievements. In short, you will have to play really, really hard if you want to complete 100% of the achievements. CONCLUSION I was really looking forward to playing this game because of the theme and style. I confess that I was expecting something simpler and this took away my excitement a little. However, it still has a lot of potential, although the player needs some resilience at the beginning of the game to understand everything that is happening. Only some mechanics didn't please me, but that's my personal taste, as I've played other games in the same hide-and-seek style and Midnight Ghost Hunt is at the bottom of the list, unfortunately, due to some of the factors already mentioned. • Review: PopSlinger

Adventure with a magical girl with several soda-powered weapons, PopSlinger is an audio-visual beat-'em-up from the 80s/90s. GAMEPLAY The gameplay follows the classic beat-'em-up style, where we traverse the scene armed with our soda gun and its variations. Although there is a dash, if we can call it that, its accuracy leaves something to be desired. The linearity of the shots is, from the beginning, one of the main sources of discomfort in the game. The imprecision of the movements and the presence of simply bizarre monsters with no charisma make the experience somewhat painful. However, if there is something positive to highlight, it is the main characters, like our protagonist, and the game's bosses. ACHIEVEMENTS In the last analysis I did on the Orion Haste, I highlighted the strategy of facilitating achievements to expand the reach of the target audience, but I never imagined that in the next analysis I would come across a game that follows exactly this approach. The achievements in PopSlinger are so simplified that they can be completed in just a few minutes, without any significant difficulty. They range from eliminating 50 blue enemies to 50 red enemies and other extremely basic tasks of the genre. Surprisingly, the "Lylah" achievement has trouble unlocking, which adds even more frustration to the experience. This approach is not what we are looking for in an attractive game with achievements. Achievements must be in tune with the gameplay experience, offering meaningful challenges that follow the player's progress from start to finish. It is essential that they are neither impossible nor excessively demanding, but rather designed to attract focus to the gameplay itself and not just the search for achievements. TRAILER OFFICIAL RESUME My experience with PopSlinger was disappointing, to say the least. Despite its attractive visuals and initially catchy soundtrack, the game proved to be a frustrating and repetitive experience. The song, which initially seemed fun, soon became irritating due to its incessant repetition. The gameplay left a lot to be desired, being imprecise and limited. I even questioned whether the game was actually finished, as the idea behind it is interesting, but its execution leaves a lot to be desired. One gets the feeling that PopSlinger was released prematurely, perhaps as a strategy to sell a few units and quickly move on to the next project - a regrettably common practice in the games industry. Ultimately, it's hard not to feel disappointed with PopSlinger, as it had the potential to be so much more than it is. Review by Gamertag: Scoulz SCORE: 40/100

  • Review: Orion Haste

Enter a dystopian future where you take on the role of a soldier engaged in a battle for his very existence against the terrifying alien threat known as Ximpeti. Developed by Viridino Studios and published by Ratalaika Games S.L., the company is already known for other 2D games that were really well thought out, such as Gardener's Path. The game is available for: PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S. STORY In a dystopian futuristic scenario, Orion Haste puts us in the role of a soldier from the BOMB military base, facing the alien threat known as Ximpeti. Our mission is to eliminate the entire threat of the Ximpetians to ensure the safety of humanity. The game features seven diverse stages, each challenging our skills with the controller in hand. As we go through these stages, we are taken on a journey full of action and adrenaline, as we face countless adversities to fulfill our objective and save the future of the human race. GAMEPLAY Being not very fluid at times, I feel that some additional animations are missing to make this title even better. The gameplay of Orion Haste is basic, not that this is a problem, but the game aims to have an incredible theme and really beautiful graphics with average gameplay and without many inventions, we have access to some weapons from the beginning of the first phase, a shield and our lives. With each new phase we have to go after these weapons and lives again. The game's bosses are well constructed and thought out, but nothing that really causes problems. ACHIEVEMENTS We believe that a delicate balance must be maintained in this regard, as the developers' inclusion of specific achievements such as "finish the game without dying" or "complete the game within a set time" is something we strongly disagree with. However, it is important to note that an environment in which you simply advance through the game without looking back and achieve all achievements without any additional effort is also not ideal. Although this approach is not as problematic as the first mentioned situation, it is still not completely satisfactory. Regarding Orion Haste achievements, all achievements can be achieved naturally throughout the game, without the need for additional efforts or specific concerns on the part of the player. It is also important to highlight that due to a problem with one of the game's achievements due to an incorrect respawn of enemies in the first phase, the "All clear" achievement may not be working correctly, as happened to me, I redid the phase several times waiting for all the enemies to appear mainly in the tunnel part, but I didn't get the achievement due to this problem on respawn. TRAILER OFFICIAL RESUME Orion Haste is a game that dives into established genres from the 90s, such as run'n'gun and scrolling shooters, taking players on adventures in space. Although it is competent in everything it tries to do, the game fails to stand out, lacking innovation and captivating animations like those seen in Lunark, which used real animation models. However, Orion Haste cannot be classified as bad. The only noticeable flaw lies in the imprecise jumps when the character moves, due to the somewhat truncated movement mechanics, which can be frustrating at times. However, the game stands out in aspects such as soundtrack, visuals and difficulty. Maybe one day I'll play it again? It's possible, but among so many games that seek to innovate, it's likely that Orion Haste will be forgotten, not because it's bad, but because it's content with being average.
